President David A. Knapp asked the 1994-95 Academic Affairs
Committee and Professional Affairs Committee to focus upon the
rapid, dramatic, and revolutionary changes occurring in the practice
of pharmacy. In his charge to the committees, President Knapp
noted that these changes are not occurring in isolation, but rather
in an environment of profound change in the organization, financing,
and delivery of all types of health care services. Stimulated
both by private sector initiatives and legislative activity at both the
federal and state levels, the changes are having and will continue to
have significant impact on the profession of pharmacy for many
years to come. Due to its close relationship with pharmacy
practice, pharmaceutical education is being significantly impacted
by these changes as well.
