Volume 57 began with a survey in the Spring issue to help the editor
understand AJPE’s readers and to receive input on how this
publication can serve them better. While most of the respondents
to the survey said the Journal contents were relevant to their needs
in pharmacy education, written comments suggested that they
wanted more articles on topics such as experiential programs,
innovative techniques and practical aids to education. Readers
also wanted articles on instructional strategies and assessment
methods used in specific courses, teaching techniques in sciencerelated
topics and new curricular approaches. To help meet some
of these needs papers based on the Council of Faculties Innovations
in Teaching Competition were published in the 1993 Winter
issue and the Spring 1994 issues with papers soon to appear in the
Fall 1994 Journal. These papers bring to the reader approaches to
methods of didactic and experiential teaching that faculty have
used in their instruction of pharmacy coursework. Faculty should
find these papers of interest as they prepare for curricular changes
at their own institution.
